Pick Up Lines

The first semester is usually an exciting period for Students of Higher institutions, not just because a new chapter in their academics is opening. It is especially because they now have a lot of control over their social lives. So love month for Buea is not really February. The love profession is done in October and the evidence shown in February. For the guys, new babes are coming so that is enough reason to be excited. New babes will mean better manners of approach most importantly but not necessarily new pick up lines. This whole process is fondly termed as “October rush”, where guys rush to get the most beautiful, well figured and trendy girls amongst the freshmen. Pick up lines are what guys  say to girls to flatter and cajole them for example do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again, is your name summer cause you are hot, falling for you will be a very short trip and you don’t need car keys to drive me crazy. There is also the famous “you look familiar” which girls apparently find very annoying.

These days guys are not the only ones doing the pick up lines since the much talk about women’s emancipation is coming to mean they do everything men did. Girls use pick up lines on men too an example is you are just the way I like my coffee-tall, dark and strong. Apart from the funny, flattery and cheesy pick up lines that persons are easily exposed to you would be surprised on the categories of pick up lines that exist, harry potter pick up lines, science and physics pick up lines, science fiction pick up lines, computer geek pick up lines and there are even pick up lines for girls of religions like Jewish, Muslim and Hindu. Some Christian pick up lines go like this, “now I know why Solomon had 700 wives-because he never met you, the word says ‘give drink to those who are thirsty and feed the hungry’ how about dinner?, for you I will slay two Goliaths and do you need prayer because I am certainly willing to lay hands on you.”

Back in the Molyko milieu, a lot of boys use these pick up lines but they are trying to keep it simple, Teddy Tabot a Molyko resident says the October rush period is characterized by a lot flattery talk but he prefers to keep it simple and classic by saying “you are beautiful” because girls are getting more complicated by the minute and you never know what will set them off. Lawrence Ngu a UB 400 level student is another guy who does not really go for pick up lines, “I pick out a part of the girl’s body, but for sexual parts which I find to be really nice and comment on it and then I crack jokes because all girls are attracted to funny boys.

Girls on the other hand don’t see it the same Becky Neh is more attracted to what she sees than what a guy says. “I like guys that dress well at the very least it always gives you something to look at while they tell you tales of love”. Flora Bessem feels that pick up lines make her special and good about herself. Elisa Djoumessi is a girl who does not really care much for such lines she says, “Pick up lines to me are always very lame and the guys use wrong tenses but what I’m attracted to is a good voice. A guy with a good, big voice could be talking about a boring science equation and I would be attracted to him.”

October rush is a period when new spinsters come into town, old girls cling onto their men, there are a lot of social gatherings or “program” as its fondly called where boys meet girls and vice versa so whether they find the pick up lines charming or creepy there is definitely lots of love to go round. After all they are called “pick up lines” so you either pick and keep or you pick and get dropped.

What Next

I woke up this morning and it suddenly hit me.ITS OVER.School has this sort of natural progression from class to class that gives comfort to the mind and makes the future always the third wheel.Well when natural progression ends there is new person in the driver seat and future is seated up front.

Another academic year has come to an end.That means some new kids are going to start school but for the most part of this it means some old kids are leaving school."What Next?" has never been a bigger issue before now.`There are choices like competitive exams and masters and then there is going back to the internship place in which you were most loved.But arent these all just easing in to the same question?Masters narrows the worry factor and so does internship but who is to say they are guaranteed?

Almost all the competitive exams can be written and bought around here.so its like the bible says"the rich get richer"

This is what i think,accept what situation you are in. and work very hard.Alot of the times life does not get easier.You may not pass any "concour" you write.You may not get the job you really like.So choose your focus and focus.Shed light on your flaws as well as your good parts.Its life.It is a climb but the view is beautiful.So WORK HARD and do so very hard.As for me,imma write and i'll be here whenever you wana read.
