Taxis were banned from entering the University of Buea last year(May 2013). Since then students have to drop at the second main gate and walk into campus. Many students at first thought it was just a bad joke that will soon end but it did not and may never will.Lets just say the joke got thwarted and its punch line is not as weak as the students may have thought.
Mini buses under the campus shuttle service now plough the University of Buea campus following a notice put up by the Vice Chancellor which says the shuttle service will be tried out for three months. These three buses are of different sizes but none can really be called big unless its in the context of bigger than the other.I sat in one of these buses(the smallest) yesterday and the feedback was....well it was what it was
Students felt it was a joke indeed if its meant to carry students because its so small and very old,the one seated by the driver specifically said "i can hear old metal displacing itself as we go ahead.is this just to make us annoyed or what?" Then Oh My! get this, a guy who is so reluctant to enter the bus gets in and says "is this serious? UB has a flat screen TV many cannot afford and buses probably the price of a bicycle" i guess he just feels like and like(modern) go together.
Out of the gloomy side, girls were impressed! as they get on the bus, they just keep on mentioning how much time and energy the bus saves them and how the shuttle service is going to be "hot cake" during the examination period but i guess the people who wont be buying any cake will be cab drivers. The bus takes you around campus for 50frs and out of campus for 100frs.The advantage is that it reaches places on campus that cabs cant reach so what is going to be the future of cabs in Molyko?? People that are mainly drawn to town by the University of Buea.

SEXES' BATTLES OVER REMOTE CONTROLS AS WORLD CUP APPROACHES.
Once in four years the world cup comes, there are a lot of things that we do in a year that can make us forget major issues talk less of 4 but there are reminders. There are reminders that come from the excitement on boys' faces and the sadness on girls'.
Parents are reminded by the constant struggling between siblings of both sexes to watch either MY TV/Supersport.In recent years the girls have been comforted by the idea of Big Brother Africa but its coming late this year so how do the girls intend to wage the storm?
Elisa Kenfack says "i hear the matches are late at night so i can hope they sleep during the day so i can watch TV during the day.
Randolf kept shaking his head when Elisa was talking and said, the "the world cup is once in four years, girls have series 356 times a year[89 times 4] so i think girls should be able to sacrifice whenever boys want to watch a match.
All houses will definitely carve out a method on how to go about it voluntarily or involuntarily which ever one you choose, one thing is certain remote controls are in for one serious exercise and since Big Brother Africa is coming up later this year, girls may have to review the statement "If you Cant Beat Them Join Them"

ASJUB Breaks the Chain of Male Guest Speakers!
Sarah Simo speaking to participants
The previous years have seen landmarks or icons in the field but not a woman but this year Miss Sarah Simo broke that chain which in our world today must highlight a gender issue. She is a former student of the department and is currently the regulator affairs manager in British American Tobacco .Her talk to the students was not the usual printed paper, lenses and speech delivery routine. It was a talk an advice, telling the students to take thier practical courses seriously for later and constant use in life.
Professor Enoh speaking on networking
Professor Enoh Tanjong also seems to have stolen that show with a drama and anecdotes mostly about him.He also gave a talk that shifted the idea of open day from awards and merry making to networking with the guests and showing off of journalistic skills in order to impress scouts and prospective employers.
Why havent women been a popular choice? The secretary General of the association Ajongaku Marious-Santos says it is more of chance than choice "but the association would very much like all sexes in the field to be represented equally so im sure the subsequent press freedom days and open days will feature men and women" he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Injury caused by a Ghanaian "medicine man".
www.sylviawaindim.wordpress.com
29 years old cristiano ronaldo is experiencing “left leg pattelar
tendinoisis”as diagnosed by his doctors but the doctor or “medicine man” in
Ghana Nana Kwaka seems to have a different explanation. He says he is working on
the Portuguese super star in oder to prevent him from playing in the world cup.
It is said that this man has put concoctions and leaves around a picture of
Ronaldo and even went in search for four dogs in order to create a special
spirit. All these are processes of a promise he made to the world four months
ago.
Nana Bonsam is apparently a famous man in his locality and has spent time
abroad and he even scored a 2500-word profile of himself in the New York
Times-that’s major! This leaves the big assumption of fame seeking out of the
question. He is also an obvious football fan who describes Group G in the world
cup as the “Group of death”.With this realisation he got to work and can now
say:
![]() |
Cristiano in training
“Sounds strange, but it's no joke,I am very serious about it.“I said it four
months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of
the World up or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best
thing I can do is to keep him out though injury. This injury can never be cured
by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is
spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is
something else.”
If he isn’t finish with him,he has 2 weeks and some days to conclude his
work before Ghana faces Portugal on June 26.
This will be one battle to watch as African and western scientists meet.It
may one step into answering a debate that has gone on almost as long as the
nature/nuture debate. So will Cristiano Ronaldo play in the world cup???????????
Lets see INCANTATIONS or TESTUBES….

Zebra Crossing and Cab Drivers In Sync
Zebra crossing is something that is new to the main highway in Molyko. It came with the Presidents visit on February 18 to stay.At first the drivers were not about to wait for every person on the zebra crossing to follow the ryules.Rather, the zebra crossing seemed to be the acceleration point so it was as good as any point on the road.So if one were to traverse the roads he better hurry or do it any where else. Some called it "imposing westernisation" others were just pleased to see the roads half painted white and the rest felt it was a replacement for the ridge that used to be in the middle of the road and its better because this time its across.
Pedestrians using the zebra crossing
Let me take you 3 months from that visit,we are in June and i should say the message has sunk into the skulls of cab drivers thanks to the help of the traffic wardens who penalise drivers who do not wait for pedestrians at the zebra line to get across to the other side.
In fact the message has sunk in so deep that the wardens do not need to be there for the drivers to obey the rules.Though some drivers still break the rules, most do not.We are not quite there yet but we are closer than we were yesterday.

A BridePrice App:Cameroon Audience
An app for calculating the brideprice of a woman was created in Nigeria May 2014.This app went viral in Nigeria and May 29 was its birthday in Kenya. That of kenya is more personal because it has been interwoven with their culture by using Kenyan currency and vernacular. One big question this has raised is whether this is sexism or a really funny joke.In Cameroon people approach the news with a lot of suprise. Some(especially the boys) blame it on the limitless bounds of technology and find it really funny but the girls are seeing it on a whole new level.Asah Jane angrily says "i consider it complete sexism! how can the worth of a human being be calculated by a piece of technology? It is wrong and is a great proof of marginalisationEdward Maiyili is a two sided man who laughed and then took a deep breath. He said "to me it has a mix of creativity and humour but it can be annoying to think that people can calculate your worth on a phone and still call it a joke.Editi Effiòng, Anakle’s CEO has
emphasized that the app is meant to be satirical and an “inside joke”
for Nigerians.
In all the 11 people i talked to 7 saw it as a joke and 4 saw it as unfair and wrong. One guy Mbenjock Jerry wasnt laughing he rather thinks people should take it seriously."I think people should take the app to alll countries because it will solve a lot of problems, some parents charge too much for their daughters while some village girls are basically free."
The Kenyan app values PhDs more than that of Nigeria. Working in Oil and Gas is a top brideprice plus in
Nigeria, while being a CEO may make a woman a hotter ticket in Kenya the app generally rates high points for skills especially cooking. Also However, tall women and curvy women score more points while shade Lupita
is still the highest valued colour.
. Stats so far tells us that around two million people have
taken the quiz with around 6-million social conversations generated as a
result.
