Finally the presidential grant of 50,000FCFA to students is here. Can i just say it again "Finally".The president giving money to students in government higher institutions has become a usual thing so students in Cameroon can dare to dream about money coming from up above and why not go ahead and lend things and money from others? (well that is if your brains if worth 2.5 G.P.A)
So "ring it up " is something you are going to be hearing a lot of, well not the words but the intention will be the same.Girls are shopping and boys are "Following up headlines" (its something they say a lot,who knows what it ever means). For those who couldnt wait to get the money first, debt paying never sucked that much.
Those that want to keep it for fees are seen as the impossible (by the way "what?") and jeered by a lot friends but some people come from tough situations and those that did not pay fees the previous year, well you might wana deal with that before you get stuck in the clearance process.
Whatever we are all spending our money on , a lot of students want this to be clear, this money is not fees "It is scholarship money given to students by the president." This guy said it with such emphasis. Sharing is the hard but necessary part for most people. That is sharing amongst family members and maybe friends that did not get lucky.(2.5 G.P.A is not a guarantee).
You must have noticed me say "we"in the sentence about spending and clarity, thats because i got lucky again. Got myself a piece of clothing as a souvenir for the president Mr Paul Biya. I guess me and a whole lot of students around Cameroon now have a reason to say "Long Live the President"
